Crop diseases are one of the biggest threats to rice production worldwide, and their impact falls hardest on smallholder farmers who often have no access to effective treatment or resistant seed. A single disease outbreak can destroy an entire harvest, pushing already vulnerable households further into food insecurity and economic hardship.

At Healthy Crops, we work to understand the molecular mechanisms behind the most devastating rice diseases, and to translate this understanding into durable, broad spectrum resistance. Our current focus lies on Bacterial Blight, Rice Blast, and Rice Yellow Mottle Virus (RYMV), three diseases responsible for significant yield losses across Asia and Africa.
